Who We Are | Pearson Industries Manufacturing Excellence

The Rope and Twine Business was originally started in 1937 by E.H. Pearson and L. Johnson. In 1941, E.H. Pearson sold his share out to L. Johnson. The business was passed through his family, eventually becoming Cavnar-Johnson Cordage Company, located in downtown Prattville.

Pearson Industries was formed in 1985 when Rufus and Anna Belle Pearson purchased the Cavnar-Johnson Cordage Company. At that time, the products manufactured were cotton and Polypropylene 3-strand twisted rope.

In 1987, Pearson Industries purchased Southern Cordage in Chattanooga, TN. This acquisition added solid braid, diamond braid, and hollow braid rope made out of cotton, nylon, polyester, and polypropylene to the product line.

In 1988, Pearson Industries purchased 12 acres in the newly created Prattville South Industrial Park and built a 45,000 square foot building to house the growing business.

In 1989, Pearson Industries purchased the Shipmate line of electric hot knife cutters from Lyman Metal Products in Norwalk, CT.

Pearson Industries now manufactures, imports, and exports cotton, polypropylene, nylon, polyester, and manila rope in sizes 1/64″ up to 2″ as well as warehousing a complete line of agricultural and industrial twine, steel strapping, and polyester cord strap.

In March of 2016, Pearson Industries purchased Bohannon Textiles of Carrollton, GA. All of their equipment has been relocated to Prattville. This acquisition will double the current production capacity of twisted 3-strand rope in sizes 3/16″ through 3/4″.
